The MER Honor Guard Academy's objective is to provide leadership training to cadets that will enable them to implement the Honor Guard Program within their individual wings and units. The Honor Guard Program contributes to both Civil Air Patrol and Middle East Region by providing a highly visible public relations program. It allows cadets, and seniors, to become Ambassadors for Civil Air Patrol and assist with both recruiting, retention and the Drug Demand Reduction Program.
The MER HGA will provide training in 4 Honor Guard Elements; (1) The Color Guard and Colors Element, (2) The Ceremonial Element, (3) The Funeral Element, and (4) The Flag Element. There will also be training in two additional elements necessary for public relations and the DDR Program; (1) The DDR Element, (2) The Public Speaking Element.
New this year! Back by popular demand, there will advanced training flights and staff positions for cadets who have attended more than one year.
CADET COST $350 - this includes all costs for the week including the Honor Guard Equipment (rifle, ascot, pistol belt, gloves, cord, etc.). The equipment will go home with the cadet at the end of the academy.
If a cadet already has the Honor Guard equipment, the cost will be $225.
Senior Member cost $225.
